Unusual
and Exotic Papers to really draw Attention to your Printed Works
For
the connoisseur, we recommend Bindakote, produced in Italy
just a few miles from the border with Switzerland. Too bad I never
visited here the years I lived in Zurich. We illustrate a blue and
gold here (made lighter so they would show up on PC monitors, which
are much much darker than Mac monitors on the Internet). The actual
real Bindakote colors are a thousand times nicer, richer, deeper,
and more colorful.
Of
all the exotic papers sent for testing by CTI, the most eye-catching
was the Glama Natural from Papierfabrik Schoellershammer,
from the Ruer River valley of western Germany. The envelopes from
this paper are especially intriguing. Glama Natural would
be great for fine arts prints, for overlays to give the explanation
of the iconography and style of the underlying design (see below).
If
you are in Europe and need to buy paper from Schoellershammer,
you can get it from Bathe Papier, Essen, Germany, tel. (0201!)
8 21 80-0, fax 8 21 80 22 (Ulrich Bathe).
Since
I currently live in Germany (when not reviewing paper for FLAAR
Digital Imaging Technology Center in America or Guatemala) it was
nice to see some paper from the Papierfabriek Shut. It includes
ground up Dutch currency.
So
far the most unusual papers we have found come from CTI. More information
is available from The Paper Mill, 1 800 284-7273.
If
you need a more direct access to these and the many other fine papers
from Papierfabrik Schoellershammer, you can purchase these
(and many other premium papers) from Bathe Paper, Ulrich
Bathe, Tel (0201) 821 800 (sic) or fax (0201) 821 8022. If calling
from USA, add 011 49 and remove the zero from the Essen city code.
In Europe phone numbers are of varying lengths (not always seven
digits).
