This
Polaroid SprintScan 4000 is reportedly manufactured at the same
factory that makes the ArtixScan
4000t
for Microtek.
As
soon as we finish evaluating prepress scanners at the high end we
will do our best to test these entry level scanners, but based on
specs alone, any
of the new Nikon
scanners would seem to offer better quality.
Since
millions of photographers worldwide have tons of old 35mm slides
that they need digitized, the market for a 35mm slide and
film scanner is wide open.
Later
this year we will report back on how the various manufacturer's
models are faring. It's too bad that American ingenuity has failed
in scanners, other than CCD technology of Kodak.
