How
to take a Peripheral rollout Photograph of a Cylindrical Object?
A
"rollout" is a picture of the decoration on the
circumference of a round object. It takes a special turntable to
rotate the round object (in this case a 7th century Maya vase) in
front of a specially adapted camera. This class of camera takes
a photograph through a narrow vertical slit. Better Light is a company
which invented the software and hardware to make this class of camera
available in digital format.
For
information on the technical aspects of the hardware and software
please contact the inventor and developer Michael Collette directly:

Note that the company name is spelled out fully, Better Light whereas
the e-mail is is an abbreviated and punned version.
The
Better Light version of the Dicomed
Field Pro DDC is a superior digital system. This Better
Light Dicomed has earned its place in the history of photographic
technology as the first production model of a digital rollout and
large format digital panorama system.
I
can, though, report that the Better Light rollout system
is superior in quality to both of the two other rollout cameras
which FLAAR already has, and both of them were in turn the previous
Best of Class for their kind.
This
system is new, and we are still preparing our analysis. In the meantime
we did not want to delay announcement of the Better Light potential
any longer.
This
section of the greater FLAAR digital photography program
Web site expands seasonally as are test teams return from our expeditions
to Central America.
Most
of the year we are out in the jungle or in a far away museum doing
intensive and extensive photography. Now at least we have the absolute
ultimate in high-end large format photography, on the cutting-edge
of rapidly developing technology--the Better Light rollout
adaptation of the Dicomed.
Now
available: the new advanced 2nd-generation Better Light camera.

Photography website for more information and reviews.
If
you might be using the BetterLight scanning back to photograph art
for eventual fine art giclee printing, then consider asking about
the BetterLight camera since they know scanners, fine art giclee
printers, watercolor paper, canvas, and also now the BetterLight
digital camera systems.
